Baxter, MN | 1 Review(s)

I am a native of the Baxter/Brainerd area. I was born in Brainerd when Baxter was still a village. When I was 8 yrs old we moved to Baxter village and at 18 I joined the USAF where I met my future husband. We always gravited back to enjoy the area and visit my family. In 1994, my husband retired from the USAF and we moved back to Baxter to live in the home I grew up in to support my aging father (WWII veteran) and to raise our son. We have been priveleged to watch the rapid changes our city is making. Yes every community makes some mistakes once in a while and we are not perfect but we usually can laugh about some of them and overcome.

Baxter, MN

Hospitality in central Minnesota - 9/22/2008
A community that loves it's place on the earth, Baxter is a place where people looking for a wholesome life gravitate to. That is why our growth has become so amazing. Once people come to our town and see for themselves the great quality of life we have here it is not surprising for them to want to live here or in our surrounding lakes area. Baxter is becoming the hub of that activity. In talking with people who have moved here it is wonderful to hear of the sacrifices made in their lives in order to live here. Sometimes away from family support, not as many cultural outlets, but most of all a drop in salary. Most say it is no sacrifice for being in a place that is a real community concerned over it's members and a place to raise their children and enjoy what the lakes area has to offer. Baxter is the heart of Minnesota.
