Delightful Delano -
8/6/2020I moved to Delano to get away from Minneapolis traffic, taxes, and schools. Best move ever. Schools are great, growth in the city is managed, and big box stores are held at bay keeping the money local. Plenty of local swimming and parks and great Independence Day celebration. Streets are quickly plowed in winter and the local paper keeps you informed on the latest city council topics. Commute to downtown Minneapolis is a straight shot and takes less time than commuting from north or south of the city. Downside is there is little racial diversity, also family names carry weight in some circles..typical small town. Housing is spendy and most local jobs are manufacturing or retail. Bulk of crime seems to be DUI/drugs. If you're thinking of moving to Delano, check out their annual City Expo or the 4th of July Celebration. Weather wise, Delano just seems to miss all the northern storms in the state and the southern tornadoes. A true sweet spot.
