Atlanta, GA

My home for life - 11/9/2018
I've lived all over the Atlanta metro area from McDonough on the southside to Loganville on the east side to Lawrenceville & now Lula on the far north side. I used to travel for work and had the chance to visit several major cities all over the US and Canada. Outside of possibly Calgary there is nowhere else I'd rather live. First of all the traffic is as bad as they say that's the downside, but the positives far outweigh the inconvenience, especially in the suburbs. There are world class restaurants, scenic hiking trails, any kind of music you could be into, and access to cheap airfare when you want to get away thanks to the busiest airport in the world. I'd say this city is best enjoyed by a younger demographic, under 50 at least that still has the energy to fight through the traffic and take advantage of the active lifestyle that makes the city fun. The suburbs have excellent school systems with a wide variety of communities from all over the world. Gwinnett county has had a tremendous need for translators because they have students from 140 different language households. There are thriving Mexican, Latin American, Brazillian, & Korean communities just to name a few. The diversity is beautiful & one of my favorite things about living here. You will need a car here, public transportation is lacking, this isn't like Manhattan where you can live your daily life without needing a car, it will be a necessity. Crime can be an issue, more in some areas than others, but I've never felt more unsafe here than a lot of other major cities I've lived in like Baltimore or Philly or NY, a little common sense and it shouldn't be an issue. The suburbs trend much safer if that's a concern. The economy is booming here with plenty of jobs to be had. I've lived here over 17 years now & have not once filed for unemployment, I've always found a new home when I needed it. If you're looking for a young vibe, with a lot to do, on the forefront of the music & movie scene, with a lot of places to get away & take in nature, I think you're hard pressed to find a city that offers more
