Hurtful malicious gossip -
12/28/2009I am a lifelong resident of Ashland, MS. I am a 44 yr. old female who is happily married to a chronically ill cancer patient. We have two great kids who attend college at old miss. I am writing this due to the fact that in this small town, some residents don't seem to understand that when a cancer patient has to take pain medication, this does not make him an addict or junkie. Many residents have been very supportive but others(and you know who you are)seem to enjoy spreading vicious rumors claiming my husband is everything from a junkie to a drug dealer. He has battled this illness for 14 years and he is my hero. People of Ashland, please educate yourselves on chronic pain and stop spreading these hurtful lies. Also, to the many people who have been so wonderful and caring, Thank you all and we could never even begin to express our appreciation.
