New York, NY

NYC Both Good & Bad
- 7/27/2020
NYC is a cesspool now. It's a good thing that you left because the public school system overall sucks - well unless you're in the "good neighborhoods" and those are expensive. Yes it's crowded - depending upon where you live. If you live in Manhattan, everyone is on top of each other. If you move to Queens or many parts of Staten Island, you will have more space. NYC is too expensive and upon retirement I'm out of here. I don't like the politics here and it's time to go.

Aiken, SC

re:
Moving here was hard, but I love Aiken - 7/27/2020
I'm encouraged by reading your comment. I'm originally from SC and later moved to NYC at a very young age. I want to go back to SC but not to my original hometown because it's very dangerous to move back there. I will be retiring in several yrs and I don't want to worry about my safety. I'm sick of NYC now. Crime is becoming a major problem as well as social unrest. I'm ready to leave here and move to a more laid back, quiet, peaceful and relaxing place. I want a more open and spaceful place. In NYC it feels like you're right on top of each other without much privacy. I just want a place where I can keep to myself most times and enjoy my privacy. I heard about things to do in Augusta and I don't mind getting out at times and going there, but at the end of the day, return to peace and solitude.

I'm seriously thinking about moving to Aiken. I also will not be too far from my family as well. What do you like most about Aiken? Is it safe for retirees?
