Trashy State Beware South Carolina ranks number 50 - 3/5/2016
I had no idea that a state with such beautiful natural recourses cared so little. On the one quarter mile road from the highway to our lake house I picked up seven bags of garbage last year and expect to surpass that this year. It is so strange moving here and realizing that so many people toss garbage out the window and leave garbage piled up in their yards. It is a low income, non-union, state. Does poverty equal a lack of effort to find a trash container. They also permit stripping of lumber with no concern for the regrowth. South Carolina is the filthiest state and I would say Greenwood is one of the worst towns. Tethered by fast food and Baptist churches sending everyone to heaven in a garbage truck. Few people recycle. It is just so sad. I may be the only person to reuse bags or reuse water containers.
