Sammamish, WA | 1 Review(s)

I've lived in the greater Seattle area all my life. Born in Redmond, spent my young childhood in Renton then moved to Sammamish, where I currently live. Just graduated Eastlake HS and currently work at Bellevue Square Mall part time. In the fall of 2012 I'm moving to Bellingham to attend WWU. I <3 WA!

Sammamish, WA

Sammamish is an all-around great place to live! - 8/8/2012
Sammamish is honestly a wonderful place to live. It's perfect for a family who wants a comfortable entertaining suburban life. The schools are pretty great, as I can say from spending grade 3-12 here (I just graduated Eastlake HS).

It's really beautiful here. Everywhere you are surrounded by green trees and grass and when the tress aren't in the way you can see the beautiful snowy mountains. The only thing that isn't great is the weather, but you get used to it. It really isn't all THAT rainy here. The real problem is that it is cloudy all the time and we don't see sunshine all that often.

This is a great place to live if you're health-conscious, liberal, hipster, etc. I'm conservative and I still enjoy living here, so don't let that aspect stop you. Sammamish is secluded enough that you won't be disturbed by "city noises" or lots of traffic, but it is really close to tons of cities that have any entertainment that you want, including the main place for all your entertainment needs: Seattle. Seattle is only a half hour drive away, which is the perfect distance. We also have Bellevue, a smaller city but still has all the activities you'd want to do in a regular week.

It's extremely safe. We leave our house and car unlocked during the day when we're home. Pretty much we have everything you could want to do here without actually living in the big city!

What else....the population consists of mainly White people but there are many Asians and a fair amount of Indians. Blacks and Latinos are really not present here (not sure if any of that matters to you).

A huge percentage of people that live here work at Microsoft. All careers are available if you want to live in this area. The only real drawback is that it really is expensive to live here, particularly the housing. If money isn't an issue then move here! :)
