2007 fast forward to 2019!!! -
2/4/2019Immensely desirable City back in 2007 which is when I relocated to Denver. I was incredibly optimistic -
tolerable traffic, accommodating housing market, friendly citizens. Fast forward ten years: horrendous traffic, terrible housing market not to mention that gentrification has indeed created economic value - but has ultimately destroyed affordability due to the relentless influx of transplanted undergrad goofballs with Subaru’s (no subjective feelings regarding subbies)! For a landlocked state, Colorado is quite overpriced and It appears that everyone who is 5 minutes into deep thought will inevitably start some new brewery, dispensary, or trendy named gluten-based restaurant processing orders containing language that my 2 year old will understand. Dating is interesting as with most of it in the digital age. Everyone seems perplexed by the organic approach, you’re best bet is to result back to the yearbook. The good ole days. Nightlife is a Downtown infested mixture of mindless zombies intoxicated into oblivion with the only objective being to succeed in a satisfactory lay, not to mention the risk you take commuting with the constant level of DUI’s on the roads. 300 plus days of sunshine can be nice, however not when 75% of it is stuck on a concrete jungle of a highway surrounded by the equally angry and the nervous uninsured. Interstate expansion here is a classic example of Jevons Paradox. Pointless. If you are one who partakes in the innately mountains and it’s equanimity, you will find that traveling back and forth is nothing short of a conundrum, particularly if your schedule entails weekends off. There is generally one direction east/west to most of the resorts. What typically is a 2 hour drive will easily, ostensibly, transform into 6 plus. It doesn’t take long for apathy to take its toll. Thankfully the winter brings a temporary reprieve of an early darkening equanimity. Take your money and live better elsewhere! Immensely overrated.
