8/16/2014So true. I worked at a Overland Park school district and it's just as you described.I thought people moved to the mid west to get away from this kind of garbage.

8/16/2014Yeah, right. Shawnee mission or Olathe schools are better than blue valley in every way.Just ask any veteran teacher what a wonderful superintendent Tom Trigg is.Ask the gardner community while you're at it.

Overland Park has lost its charm. -
8/15/2014My parents moved to Overland Park in the mid 80's and the area has lost any small town kansas (heart of America charm) that made the area such a wonderful place to live to begin with.Its become a area that has become over run with elitist pompous upper middle class citizens.I swear the people of this community act like its Orange County California.I worked at The blue valley school district as a janitor.I was amazed how the teachers and custodians where treated like servant's to over privileged high school children and patrons who only care about their own selfish obsession with blue valleys image.If you're a pompous millionaire wanna be,and the east or west coast is to expensive then Overland Park is just for you.

8/15/2014Its unfortunate that the blue valley teachers are not receiving adequate compensation from the district office administration and the patrons of bv. The patrons and the pta only care about athletic programs and their image. Their children are allowed to trash the classrooms and locker rooms in all the schools. They throw their food and discarded belongings on the floor anywhere at anytime.They throw under garments/athletic gear on the locker room floors, and smear deodorant on the walls. These are kids 14 to 17 with manners not up to par for a high school student.Ive heard teachers discuss parent teacher conference night like it was a horror film. Many of these parents hold the teachers responsible for their child's grades as if blue valley schools was a daycare center. The administration is just as horrible. The administration of this district runs bv like a corporation. This administration has very little interaction/working relationship with the teachers&custodians. The whole vibe at blue valley wants to implement into the system is to not create waves. If you have a problem don't complain. Catering to the patrons is their top priority. You'd think a high turn over rate would raise some concerns on this district and its "system", but I don't think the community gives two s@#TS !
