Change is Coming -
5/28/2009I have lived in Wilmer for five years. Currently there is nothing here, no schools, no grocery stores, just highway robbery convenient stores. Oh there is a Dollar General and a Family Dollar store, big deal. Current there are two mobile home communities, Riveroaks the older one and Now again Clayton Crossing! If you are familiar with the Dallas Logistics Hub then you know it is a (30) year project that is now under way. My husband and I made the mistake of buying a double wide home here in Wilmer. The Allen Group out of California tried to purchase our community along with the Riveroaks community but the greedy blanks would not sale! Do they really think they will be able to keep these parks full or at a decent rate of occupancy when we will have nothing but hughe warehouses behind us, across the street from us and on the west side of us? Oh yea, the kicker is the railway station on the East side of our homes. This project is to bring 30,000 jobs. That is great but I do not want to live smack dab in the middle of what will be all commercial business. Trains, Semi-Trucks, what kind of home will that be for us? I already hate the railway station as the conductors think it is necessary to blow their horns continously. I have litterally sat at the Pleasant Run and Millers Ferry RR crossing blocked by a train changing tracks for (22) minutes! When we bought our home we were told they were building a Wal-Mart on the East side of our community. Talk about confused when I started seeing the container lifts! Oh well, life in Wilmer sucks currently and will get worse for us folks that are stuck being surrounded by commercial business.
