4/12/2020From MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE to many other people's comments and experiences:
- The DC Metropolitan area (Maryland, DC, and Virginia) have an intense white supremacy / confederate mentality (It is so intense that you can sense in the air). The funny part is that I have been mistreated also by Afro-American people.
- You will be harass and offended in your face every day of your life.
- The majority of people in this area lack family formation, moral and ethical core values, people are very unrefined, vulgar, and backward. Plenty of universities around, plenty of "educated people" but plenty of ignorance also. Even little kids display the same mentality.
- Very entitled "I am white and privileged" mentality culture.
- White people in this area hate when you are competent and knowledgeable in your profession. They will be bullied and sabotage you as much as they can to depress you.
- You will be denied from renting a place even if your credit score and payment history are excellent and you have the perfect income. People will judge you by your race even if you have higher education (Bachelor's Degree), dress nicely and drive a good car. I have experience rage and anger (in my face) by white people just because I have a better income, and have some nice but not important material possessions.
- This is a catty town. People live with "fear” about everything and always expect the worse outcome. People don’t smile and have an unpleasant approach.
- No sense of community.
- If you are a freelancer or provide a service people will blatantly disrespect you wanting to take advantage of you in the most disrespectful and offensive way. People expect that you give your work and time for pennies or free. The majority of people are grasping and stingy with money in the most offensive and ridiculous ways.
The sad part is that the vast majority of people are this way.
I have 4 years living in this area and I honestly was not expecting to experience all this. I am a respectful and happy lady in my 40’s. I am a fair-white skin person born in a Caribbean country. My parents have French and Spaniards Ancestry. The US has a very wrong and uneducated concept about "been white" vs "white -fair skin races".
REGARDING THE AREA:
- Very nice-new rental apartment communities with great amenities / Good quality of life with a price tag but not as high as the major big cities (New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, etc). If you dream to buy a house please be aware that the medium home price-value is extremely high even for an old house. High taxes (Personal Income tax and Property taxes and others).
- Commuting is easier with the region’s efficient transportation systems (Metrorail, Metrobus, Uber, and Lyft). Amtrak great connections to other major cities.
- Good Shopping: All Major Department Stores from Bloomingdales to Neiman Marcus. Great Shopping Upscale Malls.
- Very bad traffic during pick hours.
- 3 Convenient International Airports.
- Great four-seasons type of weather. Not crazy snowy winter but very hot-steamy during summer.
- People are ugly in the sense that they carry themself in an unfashionable/old-fashioned way (poorly-dressed, dweeb, dull, scruff, unkempt-outdated way). Very old and conservative to the point of distress (from young to older people).
- Lack of stimulating, arty-crafty, trendy events and places (from Eatery-Restaurants, Specialty Stores, Boutiques-Fashion, Modern Art, Festivals, Entertainment, etc.)
