Longview, WA

Highlands in Longview - 9/2/2007
Indeed, it seems the Highland neighborhood has been short changed by the city of Longview and its residents. When the neighborhood was built it housed the mill workers and their families, but that is no longer the case and many of the little houses are quite suitable for home ownership and home owners are what the Highlands needs, not the so called investors who buy up the inexpensive houses and rent them out only to see a decline in the care a house needs in order to be a complement to the neighborhood.

I say, come and try out the Highlands, you'll be surprised at the small price you have to pay for a great little house that might need some work, and you can be the homeowner that starts to make a difference in how a neighborhood can be perceived. With enough people willing to take advantage of the low prices, the Highlands can spruce up and empower itself forward towards being a true gem with nearby transportation, the Columbia River, a great city library, a lake 1 mile away, a community college, and a hospital etc. etc.

It takes people who care to transition a neighborhood forward. I took the chance of buying in the Highlands 3 years ago, and I am enjoying the benefits, most of all, my ability to own a home I can afford. Yes, the Highlands has a bad reputation, but believe me it is nothing like what the metro cities have to deel with, and if more people purchase homes here the element of what I call, people who wear their underwear outside of their clothes, will disappear as they won't have as great a toe hold.

The Highlands has a lot to offer, be brave and purchase a home to make it better. You'll benefit from all the area has to offer while making the city a better place to live.
