Cost of Living -
2/4/2012Moved here 3 years ago from Ohio to be near the grandkids. I have found out that taxes, gasoline, utilities, are much higher then Ohio. These items also continue to go up in this area. If I go 5 miles down the road to South Carolina things become a lot cheaper. This area is way over taxed with state, city, and county taxes. I would like to know also why the cost of food is so much higher in this area, plus why food has to be taxed. People in my neighborhood that have been here for years are saying the same thing. Eventually this is going to hurt this area even more in unemployment, and housing. This is constructive criticism, I am not being mean. I retired here and would not of done so if I would of done my homework better. I am sure people are finding out this is not a retiree friendly area and the cost of living is to high. You would expect to pay more in New York, California, and Hawaii but not North Carolina. For example we now have the highest tax on gasoline then any other state starting in 2012. I am sure this review will not be printed any where, but maybe it will start something positive and wake people up about the cost of living getting to high in this area. Thanks for listening.
