Two Rivers, WI

Wonderful beaches! - 2/20/2021
The city is improving, but the downtown and most of the western side is pretty run down. However... there is one section of Two Rivers that is awesome: take the 17th Street Bridge over the East Twin River... that whole area between the bridge and Lake Michigan is terrific... it's safe and the beach shoreline is huge. Go in the summer to "Kites Over Lake Michigan". If you are visiting the area: there is a very nice new Cobblestone Hotel just SW of the 17th St Bridge. If you plan on living in the area: east side only, else move to the north side of Manitowoc.

Siesta Key, FL

Travel Tips when visiting Siesta Key/ Sarasota - 2/20/2021
Siesta Key.... wow! This must be one of the best places in the U.S.. My family has vacationed here since 1976 and has watched this place grow up. Lots of things to do in the area, from Museums and Art Galleries to Farmers Markets and Concert venues... Siesta Key Beach is #1 in the U.S. with it's white powdery sand. Personally, I like Turtle Beach on the south end of the island best. It's much less crowded at the south end... and a more adventurous walk southward by some incredible estates. The only public boat launch and public kayak area is at Turtle Beach. Across from the beach: Happy Hour Dinner Menu at Turtles Restaurant cant be beat! Favorite place to stay is Coral Shores on Midnight Pass Road (9022)... it's a small 8-unit vintage condo community with boat slips and a heated pool (used to be a fishing camp). The complex also can be seen in the background for several seen in the MTV series "Siesta Key", Just steps from Coral Shores is the Siesta Key "Breeze" Trolley... it's free! Take the trolley into the village and check out the live music at SKOB (Siesta Key Oyster Bar) and Gilligans. Captain Curts, the Sniki Tiki and Daqueri Deck are other hot spots. Have kids?: find real fossilized shark teeth at Caspersen Beach in Venice! You'll pass the Turvis Tumbler factory along the way too. Fun facts: drive down Point of Rocks Road to see the mansion used in the MTV series. Ringling Museum of Art and Bayfront Gardens is free on Mondays (most people do not know this). Thank you John Ringling for putting this in your will!

Earlville, IL

Affordable bedroom community, worth a look! - 2/20/2021
Great little bedroom community. 40 minutes west of Chicago's western suburbs... this is a nice safe, quiet community. There is a nice golf course, drive in movie theater and affordable places to live. Fresh corn stands on Rt. 34 in the late summer. MMmmm. You may spend a little money driving to work, but can save $500 per month on rent! Check out Eva Apartments 120/122 Ottawa or 139 W Railroad. Drawbacks: not a lot of jobs in the area, not many places to shop. However, if you are looking to escape the madness of the Chicago area, you can still work in the western suburbs and commute to this place in the country. Just 25 minutes from Ottawa, 15 Minutes east of Mendota. Side note: Gary Wolf who wrote "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is from Earlville.

Roselle, IL

Great place to raise a family - 2/20/2021
Great town... have lived here for 20 years. Still a somewhat quiet bedroom community but lots of recent growth. Very conveniently located to shopping, O'Hare, X-ways... good schools. Only drawback is the noisy train.

Manitowoc, WI

I agree with everything Jennifer said, except now... 3 years later, there are many new shops open.

Manitowoc: a great place to visit and live - 2/3/2021
Manitowoc is a great place. The city has done a remarkable job in the last few years attracting new higher-end, fun businesses: the Wharf, Waterfront Wine Bar, Manitowoc Coffee, Pizza Garden, Brix, Kustom Kanvas on York, Pet Skull Brewing Company. Strand Adventures is great for kids too. The lake front (overlooking Lake Michigan) is gorgeous. Walk to the lighthouse! Check out the Badger too. When I stay downtown I stay at the Econolodge (ask For "Ank"). I'm excited to see that Manitowoc is building a new Riverwalk entertainment district at 10th and York. If you are moving there, the north side of Manitowoc is the best... low crime, nicer homes. Both in town and on the outskirts of town there are beautiful homes (and some mansions) on Lake Michigan. Try it, you'll like it as we did :)
