8/20/2009Well, I am here in Hot Springs. I have been for ten years. I have two grandchildrem, so I know a little bit about the parks. Their mother was a park interpreter. There are parks all over the place for families and children. That is one thing I like about it. I take my grandkids to "The Tank" park as you refer to it. It does have the old tank. But it does have swings in the back. It has a beautiful creek with some picnick tables. Also in the back. The stream winds to the front of the park and there is a walking bridge with ducks and fish for the kids to feed. In the back of the park are also hiking trails that go up the mountain behind. Have you ever gotten out of your car?
Then not too far up, is Gulpha Gorge. A very beautiful camping and picnic area.
Now, go past the great barbecue place in the shabby buiding...(it is primarily takeout), you will find Millwood. You know one of those waterwheels like in the olden days. Go the other direction up Park Ave and you will find turns off to Lake Quachita State Park. Cedar Glades Park. And they just built a fabulous new climbing wall.
Not to forget Linden Park with the baseball and soccer field and two playgrounds.
Go further out Albert Pike and you will come to The Family Park. There is a small lake where the children can fish and playground equipment.
Hollywood Park behind the race track is fabulous. It has a playground and walkways bridges and imaginary kingdom stuff, like a sculpture by the famous Arkansas artist. Alice Guffey Miller.
There are several good places downtown to eat. Park Central is fabulous.
We have magnet schools here. I think Lakeside is a great school, but so are some of the others.
I think you may be unhappy wherever you live.
