Not for someone who enjoys the beauty of life - 9/9/2018
Moved to this area in 2011 so I have 7 years of observations. If you like boring, this is it. If you think a high rated public school education is a reason to spend too much money on cookie cutter, low quality contractor neighborhoods ... this place is for you. This is not to denigrate teachers in any way. My mother taught in the public school system for near 40 years and I know how hard she worked to teach someone else's children who should have been taught at home first.

Nightlife: non-existent.
Activities: River and lake or golf ...
Food: If you love chain restaurants ... truly good food prepared by local chefs that actually enjoy cooking and serving up delicious food ... you won't find it. Of the restaurants I have dined in, I have learned that people will pay to eat anything ... and by anything, I mean terrible food.
Arts: None to speak of. But feigning interest in the arts is not something I "do".
Things to do: I read a list of things to do in the area and one of the top ten things to do was visit the Georgia rest area ... ? I am not kidding or making this up ... it is still at number 10 of the top ten things to do ... ?
Religion: not quite full-on Bible-Belt, but the typical Wednesday evening prayer service type community.
Health: No better than other places I have lived. I did require a hospital my first year in the area and hid the fact that I was in the medical field for 25 years just to observe normal treatment. If you need surgery, MCG will perform well.
Employment: Pay is good for typical factory ... the usual grass is greener effect pretty much everywhere else except where you are currently employed.
Travel: Airport will get you anywhere. Bus-line will get you there ... but never enjoyed traveling by bus. Taxi's look like they are trying to infiltrate the area, but never had a need for one.
Economy: Seems fairly stable ... driven mainly by Fort Gordon and the once a year "Masters".
Real Estate: As I mentioned earlier, the market is way over-priced for the location. Home-builders are not using thought or creativity in the cookie cutter neighborhoods. I have been told there are good custom home builders, but I have yet to see anything in the area that resembles it especially at the prices they are demanding. But, that is typical for most cities ... investors are looking for dollar signs, not building communities that are genuinely desirable.
Weather: Extremely hot and humid from May to October, with a sprinkle of cool the rest of the year. Some people like it hot, I guess that is why this area is an Assisted-Living Magnet. I personally enjoy all 4 seasons, hot in the summer, cool in the fall and spring, and snow in the winter, with mountains and ocean nearby ...

Lastly, if you enjoy a boring life working shift-work, the Military life or the medical field ... you have found paradise. If you have a mind that enjoys the beauty of life over settling ... then don't show up here ... people won't like you messing with their "Masters" income.
