Lakewood City is moving in a positive direction - 1/21/2018
Historically, Lakewood has had a bad reputation for being a crime ridden city, but since its incorporation in 1996 it has seen a transformation. Many of its roads have been resurfaced or repaired. The city is now attracting many middle-income families and new businesses. There is also a wealth of diversity which adds to the culturally variability of the city. The city also hired its own police force which has had a big impact in reducing crime. Since the City's incorporation in 1996, as well as the Police Department's formation in 2004, the overall crime rate in the Lakewood community has been cut in half. The nearest community is University Place which has a better reputation and better schools. But, I truly believe the City of Lakewood is moving in the right direction toward meeting its residents’ needs.
