Camden, DE

Crime Ratings for Camden, DE Adjusted Appropriatel - 5/8/2011
As of 5/11, Sperling now lists the crime ratings for Camden, DE for Violent Crime as well as Property Crime at "2" versus the rating of "9" last year. Thank you Sperling!

Camden, DE

Sperling Crime ratings for Camden, DE make no sens - 12/4/2010
The crime ratings for Camden, DE here on Sperling are obviously listed in error. Sperling lists the property crime for Camden, DE at "9", while their property crime rating for camden, NJ is only "7". Camden, NJ is the second most violent city in the entire nation, while Camden, DE is a sleepy, quiet, residential little town where there is virtually nothing to fear in terms of safety. Sperling is doing our community an extreme injustice with these ratings, and I expect this situation will be addressed ASAP.

Manchester, NJ

Crime in Manchester is NON-Existent - 10/23/2010
The Sperling crime rating for Manchester Township, NJ is totally erroneous. The FBI crime stats show that on a scale from 1 to 100, 100 being the national average, the crime index for Manchester is 4! Use a reliable and accurate source for your information, such as Homefair.com, or check directly with FBI and state agencies.

Myrtle Beach, SC

Finally Had To Move - 9/6/2010
Sadly, we had to sell our condo in Myrtle Beach as quickly as we purchased it because we had no idea the crime there so excessive. My husband and I kept trying to convince ourselves that we were safe in spite of all the stats hitting us in the face shouting--HELLLOOO? We subsequently learned that the police had been called to our area over 1000 times in the previous 2 years and there have been 105 violent crimes right near our community! The police keep insisting that the crime stats were "skewed" and kept blaming it on the tourists who come in and out of the city. We just weren't going to buy that anymore. We have lived in many resort areas---Western Florida, Hawaii, the Jersey Shore, etc. and there was never any such crime problem with or without tourists around. Sorry, but if you're afraid to be in your own home or to park your car in your own lot or leave your house after dark-it's time to say "enough is enough". What more needs to be said when Sperling rates your city a "10" on a crime scale from 1 to 10?

Getting the Most for My Dollar - 12/14/2009
I believe Sperling meant to list Magnolia's population as 10,246 --not simply 246. There are more than 246 people on my street alone.

I have no clue as to how our crime rate could be a "6". There are a few mobile home parks in certain areas of the town where you hear of occasional domestic disputes, but otherwise we are a sleepy quiet little town which is purely residential with many new upscale home developments.

I moved to Delaware from New Jersey after I retired about 7 years ago. If I had stayed in NJ, I would be struggling through my retirement years just to pay taxes and insurance.

Here in Magnolia my taxes on a beautful new construction home backing up to a pond and woods are about $1000 a year vs. the $6000 I'd be paying in NJ on a 30 year old condo.

We have no sales tax in DE, and my car insurance on a new Acura TL is $700 a year vs. the $1700 a yr. I was averaging for insurance in NJ. I have now purchased a small vacation condo in Myrtle Beach, SC as well, so it's just amazing how my financial status and quality of life life have changed since moving here.

Magnolia is just minutes away from the Delaware Bay and beaches, the Cape May Ferry, the huge tax free outlet shopping malls in Rehoboth, Dover Downs (Raceway and Casino), Schwartz Theatre, Spence's Flea market, Byler's Amish Country Store, and a myriad of other wonderful restaurants, attractions and services.

Magnolia is as sweet and lovely a town as its name suggests.

Taste the Good Life! - 12/13/2009
For years I had dreamed of buying a condo in Myrtle Beach, but with my main concern being safety, I kept putting my plans on hold because of the crime stats and reviews I would read.

But as I continued visiting and talking to people and getting to know the city better and better, I finally decided to buy a condo located near "Broadway at the Beach".

I have found the South Carolinians to be just about the nicest people on Earth, and I am blessed and grateful to have found a condo for under $50,000! Where else can you buy anything near the beach for that price? I have lived at the Jersey Shore and Florida, and I have also traveled to Hawaii and many of the islands, but this beats it all!

With its mild weather year round, Myrtle Beach is both a cozy winter retreat as well as a charming summer resort. The fabulous restaurants, shops, and cultural events along with the beautiful beaches and the State Park enhance the city's charm.

Don't live your life in fear or put your dreams on hold because of a few negative reviews. Some people would do nothing but complain even if they lived in Heaven. So come down and see for yourself. Make my home yours!
