Newton, MS

Nothing is here. - 9/2/2018
I've lived here for most of my life. The town history is great but as for that there isn't much to say. The school system is okay. With little money for resources I always felt that the schools were trying to play catch up with more modern schools but the teachers are what make the school district from okay to great. Every teacher is motivated to make a difference there for inspiring the students to strive for excellent. The cost of living is extremely cheap, but as for employment its pretty much down hill. If you're not working at one of the few factories or retail there isnt really a place to work. You would have to be willing to commute 30 mins to the other surrounding areas to find a job. The people here are great. It reminds of Cheer's, "its a place where everyone knows your name" with a population less than 4,000 you can see why. As for entertainment there is nothing here no: movies, shopping centers, or skate park. I will say its a great place to retire.

Hopkinsville, KY

Small but its okay. - 9/2/2018
I've lived in this place for about 3 years. I can truly say this place is "meh". I'm from a smaller town in MS. and I have to say this place is very errie similar to that small town. It can be great place to live if you're looking for a quite place to retire or to raise a family especially with the extremely low crime rate and the fairly cheap cost of living. As for young adults looking to experience something new and/or looking for a career there is nothing here for you; with that being said there are plenty of jobs around. The town is trying to expend with steadily growing Industrial area that keeps over half of this small town employed. Every year there are a few town events that we as a community gather to celebrate showing neighborly fellowship. Late summer of 2017 we sent out a world invitation to invite people to watch the total eclipse with our small town. For all the things you can't get here you can always cross the state line to Clarksville, TN. which is nothing but a hop and a skip away.
