10/14/2009I have lived in Weaverville for nearly two years. In the winter, people throughout the town burn their trash as there is no trash pick up. Often times they burn things that are toxic, right in their yard. In addition, many people use wood burning stoves which pollute the air further. In the summertime, there are forest fires in the neighboring communities, in Oregon, or in the town itself. The smoke fills the air and lingers for weeks to months. Last summer it was raining ash so heavily due to numerous fires that you needed to wear a mask whenever you stepped outdoors. This lasted all summer. I would not recommend living in Weaverville if air quality is important to you.
