3/21/2019Spot on assessment. Entering Sequim from the West Side is a giant billboard for a funeral home that says funeral expenses are too high. If that's not a sign that Sequim is a death trap and a place to die, I don't know what is. The sign has been there for over three years now. Why there aren't more people killing themselves out here is beyond me.

3/21/2019Earn their keep, as in be willing to take less to do the job people are getting paid more to do in other places, especially in places people who have moved to Sequim have come from. People move here after selling houses for millions of dollars and then offer $20 an hour to licensed contractors to do handyman work, when the money doesn't even cover what license/insurance/bonding costs in this state to be an honest worker who earns their keep. Whoever is writing this stuff must be getting paid by someone to sell lies on here, because the economy is awful in Sequim and it is being brought down by people who move to the area and don't offer to pay what human services are worth. Just look at Olympic Peninsula Craigslist jobs to get an idea of how awful it is here, and then look at Indeed. This is a place to die; not a place to live and thrive. Anyone who says Sequim is wonderful should declare how much money they live on because that changes the perspective entirely.

Less than 1% Job Growth & It Shows in Sequim -
9/2/2018Read the stats on this website: public administrators in Sequim make $70k a year which is $14k more than the average in Washington State, while the average earnings a person takes home in Sequim is $25k, which is less than the national average and far, far below the pay of the Sequim city manager who makes $90-100k a year for making sure Sequim progresses with job growth at a rate of less than 1% a year; the unemployment rate in Sequim is higher than the national average, and many people working are only doing it for the health insurance because they're close to retiring; job growth has been less than 1% for the past year, and it shows in Sequim. The Clallam County economic council even had a report that showed this area is basically doomed due to the regulations that are taxing away the life that's out here. Yeah, Sequim's great, if you're retired, from California, or a millionaire on Bell Hill.
