Up and Coming Condon -
12/22/2008I live in Portland but own a home in Condon. It's a cute, western town with many historic buildings on Main St. including a hotel. Several buildings have been restored and 2 others are currently undergoing restoration. The area around Condon is beautiful with several interesting sites nearby including the ghost town of Lone Rock. The 8,000 Murtha Ranch was recently purchased by Western Rivers Conservancy. They are restoring the ecosystem along the John Day River to sustain, among other things, a herd of big horn sheep. The State's Parks and Rec Dept has expressed interest in the property as a future state park. The people are welcoming, friendly and helpful.
