2/21/2008Santee has a great quality of life,low crime, good schools(some of the best schools east county has to offer), fairly short commute time, as it is fairly well central in location. Santee has grown, and was a small town and some don't like it. Though, for some of us, that change is very welcome. We have a lot of community involvement, great parks, lot's of activities for the kids to participate in, and planners have decided to update our looks considerably. Home values went up across the nation, and now of course are comming down. If you follow the trends you'd notice Santee always does better than most cities around here, high or low people move to Santee for it's value. More bang for your buck. I my house last year(5/7) and expect to pick up a house out here at least a hundred thousand less than I sold mine for. Sent out here in the '80's from New Jersey and have lived in Santee for over 15 years. Never have had a racist encounter, people are church going and friendly, and I will never leave.

2/21/2008Santee is a semi-desert climate. We don't really get get all four seasons, weather wise. Our fall, winter, and spring weather, are fairly the same. Our summer go from great warm weather to an unbearably hot desert. The hottest months are August and September, where temperatures are often in the '90's to 100's. Just over the hill, in San Diego the temperatures are usually 10 degrees cooler in the summer and 10 degrees warmer in the cooler months.
