7/17/2019Winchester in general despises renters. A representative of a city agency in a public meeting made the public comment that , "Renters are a problem." I filed a complaint and got an apology from the city agency head but the attitude of home owners remains firmly entrenched

Stuck in the 1950s -
7/16/2019I have lived in Winchester since 2010. I am hated by the neighbors since I have new ideas . I am constantly micromanaged, and they gripe about every change made to my residence by my landlord.What is puzzling to me is they have central air, internet, color TV, cable, air conditioned car. None were present in the 1950s.The neighbors , despise renters as second class people. The statement was removed, but the city also had a statement ,

8/17/2016Worst place I have ever lived. My neighbors hate jemmy since I am not a clone. They do not respect other people's property.I put up a fence and the same day the contractor set the posts the neighbors called the city saying my posts wee too high. The city agreed with me that the posts woudl be cut down the next day. if you do not own your house they hate you too. They treat renters worse than dirt, especially if you do not have carbon copy 1950s era exterior door colors. They forget the historic district has many doors with bright red, bright purple, bright blue ,etc. I'd rather have stayed in Newark, NJ . I am a white person and my African American neighbors in Newark were friendly and respected me, than move to Winchester .I plan to move as soon as I raise the money to move and never return. The city actually had a statement in their strategic plan that "Renters are a problem." In a neighborhood watch meeting I attended a Representative of the police made the same comment.The police did apologize

8/2/2014I have lived here(renter) since 2010. A big mistake! The city has a rising illegal drug problem and a rising assault rate. I have had property stolen from my residence two nights in a row.
The latest snobbery is a remark made by an official of the Winchester Police Department that "Fr enters are problems."
I would now rather be homeless in any place other than living in Winchester. When I raise the funds I Will leaver Winchester-- forever

1/3/2014I lived in North Edison from 1994 to 2008. A developer by the name of Foxx & Foxx bought up all the small houses when one spouse died. He bullied the surviving spouse until they sold to Foxx even when the deceased spouse said they'd never sell to Foxx but the survivor sold to Foxx and he built huge McMansions(replacing two or three existing homes with one McMansion) . I do not dislike any ethnic group but only Asians with
multi-generational families could afford these McMansions. Just before I left the last "American" store vanished and became an "Asian" store. The shopping centers and commercial streets became "Little Asia"and on weekends many streets became "Street fairs" with only Asian food,clothing and video/DVD items for sale. Anglo-Americans were looked on with disdain. If you enjoy Asian culture, Edison is for you. If you enjoy traditional American culture stay away.
