Aspen, CO

Two grocery stores for food shopping - 7/10/2010
In Winter the grocery store closest to the ski lifts is so packed full of people it
is really difficult to move through the store, especially if you have a cart. It is
super crowded, very uncomfortable. The store's aisles are too small, it is old and
expensive, of course. IMO most everything I have purchased cost pretty much twice
as much as anywhere else. The fun part is listening to all the different languages
that you will hear, people from everywhere.

The other grocery store is more modern, newer, cleaner and less crowded most always.
However, the prices of just about anything is double what you would pay anywhere else.

The choices in both stores are limited in what they offer compared to a regular
size grocery store, i.e. safeway, whatever.

The upside is they do have a lot of organics.

And a person can always travel 20+ miles to find a really nice big new grocery store.
With more reasonable prices too.

I understand totally that people that live here don't worry too much about the cost
of anything, but this is how it is.

Aside from all that, Aspen is one of the most beautiful places, green, cool, and
rivers everywhere. I can hear the river from where I sit and I guess that's what we
pay for and why we live here.

Prescott Valley, AZ

New Hospital, New Bldg. for our own Hockey team,
- 6/27/2006
Prescott Valley aka PV now has it's own brand new hospital. The hockey arena is close to being built. Yes, we do have a Starbuck's and an IHOP almost completed. There are many nice restaurants here for a smaller town and more being built all of the time. We have a mall with JC Penneys, Dillards and Sears as the anchor stores. We have a nice Harkin's theatre with
stadium seating with 14 theatres. There are cultural events 8 miles to Prescott and a l-l/2 hour drive to Phoenix. There's a hiking trail that
you can walk, bike or ride horses called the Iron King Trail (beware snakes
in the summer, I've heard of people seeing rattlers, but I have not, only
the harmless type). There is not too much in the way of water sports here,
but beatiful Lake Powell and others are within a day's driving. We do have
several small lakes locally for fishing too. You can spend a lot of time
outdoors because of the abundant sunshine. I love it here and I am an AZ. native for 55 years.
