South Ogden, UT

Ogden and South Ogden Utah. - 6/24/2007
We have lived in South Ogden, Utah since September 2004. We had been living in Hope Mills, North Carolina. We liked North Carolina but moved due to my wife's work - she is an RN BSN and was unhappy at her job.

Utah is beautiful and housing is affordable here compared to other parts of the country; like say Asheville, N.C. or Miami, Florida. South Ogden is comparable to an emerging Coral Gables, Florida. Ogden is next to us and is growing by leaps and bounds. Actually both South Ogden and Ogden are growing. I read today on Forbes.com where Ogden is the 11th best city for business and careers, not bad especially since this area of Utah is within 20 to 30 minutes from many recreational activities.

There is also a special bonus for disabled veterans here in Utah. Depending on you're VA disability rating, you're tax burdened is reduced accordingly to the point where you may not have to pay any property taxes on you're primary residence; provided that you own it or are carrying a mortgage.

The economy is strong here and we have Weber State University and an Applied Community College (ATC). Hey, here in South Ogden we are even getting a Starbucks, it should be oppening within the next couple of weeks.

The air is clean, the crime is low and the opportunities abound.

Ogden has tons of affordable housing. In fact, you can find homes of 2200 square foot, 3 bedrooms, 1.5 to 2 bathrooms for around $115,000 on up.

The area is growing and thriving. I recommend South Ogden and Ogden.
