9/5/2017I lived in Boise for quite some time, and you seem to have a really negative outlook on the city. If you wanted California, you shouldn't have moved to Idaho. I loved the small town feel, as it made me feel welcome. People are friendly and will do what they can to help people. There are no huge traffic congestion problems which is great. Idaho is conservative and plans to stay that way. That's why it rates high on the quality of life charts for America's most livable cities. As for wages, they are relative to the cost of living there, so of course the wages won't be extremely high. As for your comment about management treating people poorly, I disagree. I had fantastic experiences with Boise and management, and they are always open to hearing your opinion to resolve issues. Overall, it sounds like you're better off in a liberal city that fits your lifestyle mindset.

I wouldn't recommend moving to this city -
9/5/2017I have lived here for over a year, and I would highly recommend for anyone considering moving here to stay away. The city is rampant with crime, and there are thugs roaming around everywhere carrying their belongings in garbage bags. The downtown area has a lot of vagrants, and it is creepy. I actually was walking down near the corner of Menaul and Wyoming, and I saw a woman in broad daylight pull down her shorts and expose her rear end. There are a lot of mentally ill people here.
The police departments in Albuquerque and Santa Fe are rife w/corruption. I have seen aggressors punch innocent people who weren't doing anything to provoke them, and the police arrived to do absolutely nothing to stop it or arrest anyone. It seems like the mentality of the Wild West where anything goes. A lot of people here come across as extremely rude, unfriendly and have bad attitudes. You can walk into a business w/a reception desk, and the receptionist won't even look up to greet you. I have overhead employees of businesses here say some of the rudest things to customers I have ever heard, and they think you are there to serve them.
People here drive way too fast for the conditions and don't seem to be paying attention to what they're doing. It is very dangerous. If you are single, there isn't much to do here for entertainment. Most people head to the casinos, but they tend to not pay out much so it's a waste of money.
The city is dirty with trash strewn all over the place and not maintained very well. It is disgusting. I have seen overflowing trashcans at bus stops that are brimming over that look like they haven't been emptied in weeks. People are not very reliable, as I have seen countless times where you leave a message with someone, and they never return the call. I am planning on leaving very soon, so if you're considering moving here, I would reconsider.
