What you can and can not find in Rio Vista -
4/3/2011There is plenty to be had in Rio Vista, particularly if you like dead animal heads on a bar wall (Fosters Big Horn) and a state of the art fish cleaning station located near city hall and the boat launch.
Neither of those accoutrements speaks to me. It becomes necessary to leave town for nearly everything I do and every job I currently hold. I am a tap dancer and I have pursued dance classes in different towns (Rio Vista offers no dance classes) while I also teach dance out of town (there's a reason for why I don't teach in town -- but that's another story). I spend quite a bit on gas and the bridge toll fees required of me as I commute to pursue jobs and recreation not afforded me in Rio Vista. But that's not a complaint, rather it's the trade-off I make for being where the opportunities are. For me to maintain balance while living in Rio Vista it becomes a necessity, not an option, to venture out of the city limits. I think small towns like Rio Vista are defined by their limitations.
