Poughkeepsie, NY
Expensive but worth it. -
8/8/2008 I live in the town of Poughkeepsie (outside of the city of Poughkkepsie) in a neighborhood also known as Arlington. It's a nice area, with good schools and plenty of places to shop and eat. There are several colleges nearby (Vassar, Marist, Culinary Instiitute, Dutchess Community College, SUNY New Paltz), and top notch medical care available. I love it here, but like everything else, the cost of living keeps on going up. It helps if you have a 2 income family, or a really good-paying job. Many people take the train to New York City every day for work.
The winters can be harsh, but the Spring, Fall and Summer are beautiful around here.
