Chico, CA
Used to be nice, now it's a S hole -
5/4/2021I'm from Monterey, CA. I worked a large project for the Department of Agriculture here in Chico region in 2010 and really liked the community. Since the Camp Fire the town has gone of the deep end.
I hear Gun shots and police sirens at least 1 or 2 times a week. Seems like every single day they are convicting another pedophile who is usually sold to them by the crack head moms for more meth. I just had a son myself and I would take a bullet before letting my son grow up here now. We have had to major city council overhauls and none of them are competent or capable of turning the city around. The Vice Major who identifies as Trans, has a AA Degree in Ceramics from the local Junior college and life experience peaked at volunteering part time at the art gallery before being elected Mayor. That was all the qualification needed to become a mayor in this town.
The far left city council has attracted 4x to homeless population since the Camp Fire with very robust and generous homeless benefits.
Homeless are now getting free tiny homes, and special gourmet meals one a week at the center town plaza where families used to bring kids, is now crack addicts.
I thought about sticking around myself, until the new election and found that even with new counsil members, nothing is changing for the better.
My Real Estate agent just quit on me and moved out of the area because she hated Chico. After having my first child, I decided the same and bought a small property 4 hours south.
I have lived in 9 states, and having 2 uncles who own a trucking company, I have driven through all 49 states and visited HI several times. Chico is one of the fastest declining places I have ever seen in my 40 years of life. Chico has not only gone down hill fast, there seems to be no end to the decline, only policies that ensure it gets worse longer!
Stay AWAY! I'm moving out July 2021. I wish it were sooner!
