12/20/2008Rich, I agree with everything you wrote except for one thing. No one, and I mean, NO ONE hypes the weather up unnecessarily like Jim "get me to ground zero" Cantori and the rest of the weather spin doctors at The Weather Channel. I swear every year, it gets worse. Now they have Stefanie Abrams and Mike Bettes, who look to Cantori like some kind of weather demigod or something and they are just as bad. This year, (I forget during which storm it was, they actually looked sad and disappointed that there wasn't more damage and catastrophic winds once the storm made landfall). They're all sick, I tell you. Reminds me of Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" - ("We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who comes on at five, she can tell you bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye... I'ts interesting when people die- give us dirty laundry").
Anyway, I agree... Siesta Key is pretty much a slice a paradise if you can afford to live here. Check out those median home prices folks. A little steep for some. Rich is right though. Right about now... it's PERFECT weather. In four months, the tide will turn and the heat returns. Typical tropics. Nice beaches, good surf fishing and beach swimming for the little ones. I HOPE this place NEVER turns into Ft. Lauderdale. What a cesspool that city has become.
