I agree about Denver. I have been there many times and have several friends from there. I could not believe that they do not have food co-ops in Denver! There are so many in the Twin Cities! I do love some elements of Denver, but I am glad to come home to my Minneapolis.

I am curious to know more about what Inna did in Minneapolis. I live in the city and I rarely go to the suburbs, but I am glad the big box stores are there when I need them. And what US city (or other city) have you been to that does not have big box brands all over the suburbs if not the city center?

And sandy, I understand the superiority complex you speak of...but I do not understand why you would want to live somewhere without pride and drive to have the best. "Look at us, we're just average!"

I have lived in the Twin Cities my whole life and I have never been hunting or fishing. Ever. I never even went camping until I was in college. If you think Minneapolis is not diverse than you have not been here in a while. I live in Minneapolis and I adore it. I adore Chicago too, also Denver, Boston, Paris, and London, but I will always be happy to return home to Minneapolis.

I have to say that I have had other East Coast friends say the same thing "Best Kept Secret!". One family consists of a husband from MN and a wife from Maine. When they had a family, they decide to move closer to relatives. Minneapolis had load more job opportunities than Maine, so they moved there despite the wife being less than thrilled. Well, she LOVES it here! They live in St. Paul on Grand Avenue, a busy road, and they feel just as cozy as if they lived in a suburb in Boston. They feel comfortable with the schools. The wife nows says "I do not want this place to change, so I don't tell others!"

It is freezing here sometimes and hot and humid other times. I am a native Minnesotan, I guess I did not realize that I was rude or cold to people. I have lots of friends who are not from here whom I have met through all kinds of venues at all different stages of life. I have always lived in the Twin cities and love Minneapolis, where I live and work now. I love the diversity and the arts and the lakes.

Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis is divine! - 7/17/2009
The neighborhood has a range of socio-economic levels, a liberal political slat, a very active neighborhood association, a lovely park with lots of great activities all the time and just plain nice people. I love the neighborhood coffee shop and the movie rental store. I also love that downtown is so close but far enough away that street parking is plentiful and the bus routes are useful.
