6/24/2021Most of the neighborhoods in Norfolk are high-crime, especially property crimes and violence, and the houses look run down and dirty. Because there are so many rivers and creeks, there are rats absolutely everywhere, as well as mice, and some of the biggest spiders I have ever seen are everywhere. Most of the people are not especially nice, the neighborhoods are not well segregated, and there is soooooo much property crime almost everywhere, it's ridiculous.

6/17/2021"Hell on earth" is the best description of Lawton that I've ever heard. There are more gangs here than in many urban areas. Because of the way main U.S. highways intersect near here, this is a MAIN DRUG TRAFFICKING area of the entire country, which is actually Lawton's only claim to fame. The cops are crooked, the city council is corrupt and spins lies to get businesses to come here (and then they fail), and the statistics about how great the schools are? All lies. The schools here are terrible. The constant noise of bombs blowing up on Ft. Sill is nerve-wracking. There are hookers everywhere. Every single time a group of soldiers are deployed, the town is flooded with the dogs and cats that they take into neighborhoods and just dump. Actually, the one thing Lawton can legitimately brag about is that their animal shelter is pretty good.

6/17/2021This horrible review of Lawton is SO TRUE!!! This is a terrible town. Even the wealthy don't like it here because there is nothing to do. What the town calls their "mall" is a short strip of stores, many of which are now closing. Their "big, beautiful parks" actually are only one kind of nice park, with a children's area, on one side of town, and another sort of a park? with play equipment for kids. That's it. That's all. The rest are small plots of land that a house couldn't be built on, so they mow it and call it a park. Suddenly Lawton has "dozens of parks," except that it doesn't. The city council deliberately lies to try to get people to come here. It's a terrible place to live. Don't come here.

6/17/2021The only good thing about Lawton is that it's close to a nice wildlife refuge, which has great hiking, and some buffalo. Lawton tricked U.S. businesses into coming into the area about 10 years ago when it annexed the population of the adjoining Army base, Ft. Sill, onto its population, making it look like an enormous number of people were moving here. They weren't. But the businesses were successfully duped into coming. Now most of them are starting to cut their losses and leave. Pretty soon, Lawton will be 'that place where there used to be a lot of businesses.' The common complaint here is that there's really nothing to do. It's a horribly boring place, the crime here is terrible, the cops are terrible, and city council is terrible, the neighborhoods are terrible, and for God's sake, the public schools are terrible. When the city had trouble getting doctors to move here, the main problem was how ugly the town is. So they plotted a course of roads to "show people Lawton." On those particular roades, they invested in landscaping, which, of course, went by all the wonderful, new businesses that are now starting to leave. They showed the doctors a beautiful Lawton. It was a lie, but it worked for a while, and we did get some good doctors here. For a while. People, don't believe anything good you read about Lawton. You'll regret it if you move here. Everyone does.
