7/21/2021I didn't live here in 2009, but I do know the infrastructure under the streets is 50 plus years old and crumbling. The water pipes have asbestos cement and need to be replaced. The city and county government both seem to have financial responsibility as a high priority and talk about costs constantly, so I don't really think they'll get in trouble again like they did before, at least I hope not. 2009 was a bad time for the country in general anyway, as the economy tanked.

7/21/2021I've lived here for 10 years now, longer than I thought I would. I also thought I was moving to Minot when I moved to this state. My husband got settled here a few months before the rest of the family, because his mom and other relatives live here. Anyway, I like it. Reminds me of the small gold rush towns in the state where I used to live, without the gold, of course, lol. The "history" in historical places is a bit more recent, but in the western part of ND, they do have ancient Native American hieroglyphics on a rock, which is cool. I don't think I'll stay here forever and I could do without the winter weather, but after getting used to a Midwestern small town lifestyle, it's not bad.
