3/21/2011I dont understand why the air quality is ranked so high. According to USAToday special report of the Smokestack Effect, the air here is polluted. They state toxicity assessments for each school are based on emissions data collected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as part of its Toxics Release Inventory program. They have a large Soybean oil mill releasing over 600,000 lbs of toxic chemicals in the air and a couple other manufacturing companies releasing (burning) toxic stuff in the air.

1/8/2011Forgot to mention this particular housing complex is infested with ants with the occasional mouse and rat climbing up the walls. Playgrounds are nice.

1/7/2011We lived in UCLA Housing Complex on Sawtelle because the rent was relatively inexpensive for the area, $1300 for a two bedroom. Its back up against the 405 fwy. Once we moved in I was having sinus problems every other month. My 2 year was always sick and had dark circles under her eyes. We moved to Boston a few months ago. No more sickness.
Forget leaving your windows open. Black dust will accumulate in your home. If you are lucky you can see a few stars at night. During the day the sky is brown. No joke. Go to the Griffith Observatory and look out to see what you are breathing.
After it rained you could see the Hollywood sign from the freeway. Only for a day because the next day the smog would be back.
Don't get me started on the traffic. Let just say on Fridays, it would take me two hours to get from Torrance (work) to West LA (home) (17 miles).
