Virginia Beach, VA

re: Thinking about Relocating - 10/2/2006
- 6/12/2008
I live in the suburbs of Houston Tx and I am thinking of moving to Virginia Beach but really need the names of suburbs..doesn't sound like I can afford Virginia Beach...

Dallas, TX

Houston or Dallas? - 10/22/2007
I am a native Texan and Dallas is much more "snobby" than Houston. Dallas thinks it's upper crust (poor things) but Houston has a mix of every kind of culture, occupation, food, etc. Dallas wants to separate and show just how country club they can behave. Dallas has a higher cost of living, the air is cleaner than Houston, it's hot in both cities..I believe Mexican food is the best in Houston and Houston has so many wonderful suburbs(Spring, The Woodlands, Sugarland, Missouri City, Seabrook, Kingwood, etc)..Houston has the great old Astrodome and the great new Reliant Center and of course, Joel Osteen is a wonderful thing to brag about. I still connect Dallas to "J.R." - seriously the freeways in Dallas aren't as easy to travel as HOuston..Houston spells out the exits, how far, where you are, etc..Houston is a much more progressive city than Dallas..Dallas is conservative, that is just of course, a dressed up word for "narrow minded." Dallas has pretty countryside..but the cost of living in Houston is way under dallas and you can buy a lot more house for the $ in Houston, thanks to competition! Jobs are in Houston! Not to mention the wonderful medical center, all the musuems, the night life and so much excellent food, everywhere..More republicans in Dallas I believe ...

Dayton, TX

deliverance - 10/22/2007
did you see the movie, "deliverance?" dualing banjos? Go to Dayton if you want that same feelin'- nothing but trailers, mobile homes, rednecks and lots of pick ups! I'm trying to think of something positive to say..I'm still trying

Palestine, TX

a town of dogwoods - 10/22/2007
about the only thing going for this place is the dogwoods in the spring and the "Tyler roses" on up the road! The biggest thing to ever hit Palestine was the Wal-mart distribution center. Rednecks galore and the dressed up word, conservative, which is just a nice word for "narrow minded." Believe me, you don't want to end up here and if you were born there, you're probably already gone if you're old enough to work and/or drive. Outsiders not welcome!

Oakwood, TX

not a happy place to be - 10/22/2007
this is a little "map dot" of a town and the best way I can describe it is:
the movie, "to kill a mockingbird." That's the way it was, it is, and always will be. It has 1 traffic light(and it's just a blinking, yellow caution light), no way to make a living,(you can work at one of the area prisons or the Wal-mart distribution ctr in Palestine, a few miles away. This is a town you don't even want to break down in, much less, live in! Keep on moving! And if you blink, you just might miss it all!

Pasadena, TX

gone down considerably - 10/22/2007
the city has really gone down now that the biggest population is hispanic. the quality of the homes and surrounding areas has declined greatly..

Pasadena, TX

Pasadena, stinkadena !!! - 10/22/2007
yes I agree about Pasadena, it is becoming little Mexico and it's true, once you start let so many people live in one hosue, it soon becomes like Mexico...we don't want our state to start to reflect that image! the smell from the surrounding "plants" and refineries don't help either!

Spring, TX

a little piece of Texas - 10/22/2007
Spring is a great place to be if you're in Harris County, Texas. You have the best of being in the middle(literally)of the City(Houston) and the Woodlands to select and choose all the restaurants, activities, you wish. You can live in a nice place, low cost of living, great schools and not get caught up in the "huge city" atmosphere of Houston, yet be close enough to drive in if you choose. You have the best of all worlds..restaurants, 1 of the best medical centers in the World, lots of job opportunities and a decent place to raise a family. You won't appreciate all it has to offer until you move away to a place w/none of its convenience, outlets, shopping and most of all a blend of people and lots of friendliness! downfall, the humidity and heat but on a brighter note, that humidity is good for your skin!!! So if you need to live near Houston but can't afford the inner city, choose Spring! If you need a realtor, call me! Mary Ann Lipsey
