9/2/2008I am looking for any record of my grandfather (John Julius Bauer). A couple people have searched for him. He has passed away many years ago but there are questions about his birth. A few people have tried to locate his history. One person found a John Bauer listed in the records in Ellis Island as being in the entourage of a King Wilhelm II. The other person could not find any record of him living in Goodman, Wisconsin in the public records. This does not make sense since his family and him had lived in Goodman for many years starting in the 1920's. Some of the cousins are still there. What I found out from my mother is that Mr. Goodman, the founder, has always kept Grandpa Bauer busy while other families were being laid off because of the depression. The other kids used to tease my aunts about their German heritage which did not make any sense since Goodman had a lot of other Germans in the City. Why pick on my Grandpa's family? Out of 13 children, my mother is the only sibling who is still alive. What I would like to find out is why my grandfather's family is not listed in Goodman's history and if you can tell me if he is, in deed, the bastard child of a baron back in Austria or Germany. Thank you for your help. One of the cousins is trying to put together a family tree and came across a dead end without being able to locate the family as living in Goodmany for many, many years.
