Hughesville, MD

Hughesville
- 4/19/2007
Relatively close proximity to Washington D.C., therefore, opportunities for good employment are very high, as well as the amenities that typical cities offer to include, museums, the arts and entertainment, fine dining, etc. As for the immediate area of Hughesville, "fine" dinning is somewhat hit or miss, although I will admit we have an abundance of restaurants offering local seafood catches from the Patuxent River. Approximately 30 miles south of Hughesville, St. Mary's College offers a wealth of opportunity and involvement with the arts to include the River Concert Series (free to the public) and a host of other events in support of the college. St. Mary's college is also home to the historic city of St. Mary's where there continues to be restoration and archeological findings.

Hughesville weather can be a bit hot during the summer months and surprisingly somewhat humid. Spring and fall are quite nice and temperatures tend to be mild. Winters are tolerable and in most recent years we have seen very little snow (fortunately).

Housing has been on the rise and suitable real estate can be found from a wide range of pricing - our area like many others, has seen the average home size increase tremendously and offerings include many custom options.

Overall, Hughesville has an upscale rural feeling and offers many local activities because of the close proximity to the water and down town Washington D.C.
