5/6/2019I have been in Bolingbrook since 1977, and yes, it has gone down hill pretty consistently. When it went section 8 back in the early 80s things started down a bad path. Although it is not as nice as most people would have you believe it is, I have been to some areas around Illinois that are much worse.
One thing I have to say about Bolingbrook, the people who run this city are really good at pushing down the negative things that happen here. You rarely hear of them, although in all reality seriously negative things are happening here. If you get to know someone who works for the city, and get the real scoop, you will find that Bolingbrook is not such a nice place.
I also must completely agree with regards to taxes. My house has almost doubled in property taxes since 2004. There is nothing about this neighborhood, this city, this county or the state that is worth what we pay in property taxes alone.
If you can live anywhere outside of Will County and you need to take that opportunity. We are the 4th highest taxed county in the state, and it shows.
$6,200 a year on a 1,700 square foot home that is in the oldest area in the city is honestly a joke. I know people who are paying almost $10,000 a year on homes that you can buy in other states and pay less than $1,000 to the state to own.
