6/27/2009The early settlers dating back to 1781 were of French, Spanish, and Italian heritage. The salt water fishing is outstanding, and during the Spring and Summer, vacationers enjoy fishing in the surf for a variety of salt water fish and blue crabs. Grand Isle is often known as "The Cajun Riviera"

6/27/2009The cost of living on Grand Isle is pricey, and that includes housing, homeowner's insurance, flood insurance, food, and rent if you cannot afford to buy.

Climate -
6/27/2009Winters are fairly mild with occasional dips into the 30's. Spring & Fall are usually pretty comfortable ( 60's & 70's ), while summer is sub-tropical with temps climbing into the upper 90's.
