12/5/2017Sounds like this poster didn't do there homework LOL! Laramie is a great town. I've lived in all kinds of climates many I didn't like. I dislike heat and despised the summers I lived in the hot humid Midwest. I purposely chose to move to Laramie because of the climate. I lived for many years in the mountains of neighboring Colorado and the weather here is similar. Remember that you are living in a wide open valley at 7200' elevation not at sea level on the beach. Summers are stupendous with tons of sun and weather in the 70s & 80s. Winter....well I'm looking out my window at a light breeze, sun, blue clean sky, 20 degrees and a bit of snow. The wind was 45mph 2 days ago and that's expected. Yep the road sometimes closes, you're living at high altitudes and that happens. It also happened often when I lived in Iowa at 1400 feet. Iowa winters sucked compared to Laramie IMHO. Yes do your homework. Don't move anywhere that doesn't suit you. If you want malls, big box stores and for sure winter travel then this is not your place. If you want a friendly small city with clean air, lots of sun and moderate summers, Laramie might work. I chose to retire here and love it. Down sides? Sure, every place does.

12/5/2017I think this review is totally off base. Laramie is an excellent town. Traffic is no problem here and I find the drivers are far more conservative than other places I've lived both large and small. I grew up in San Francisco and the bay area and Laramie is so calm compared to there? Yep jobs are tight. If you're coming here to work, well you didn't do your homework. As a college town of 32K people and 12K of that college students that high paying job is scarce. The job situation has always been the same and will likely not improve. The county (Albany) has few income sources as there is no mining/gas/oil here and Laramie relies on income generated from the university/students and tourism. I looked for work in Laramie 10 years ago when I lived an hour away in Colorado and found nothing. Unemployment is only 3.8%, very low. You come here with a job or retire here as I did. As for rentals, it's cheap here. I've rented 2 places since moving here 2 years ago, both allowed pets and I got ALL deposits back quickly. One of the friendliest cities I've lived in and am more than happy here :-)
