Knoxville, TN

Pardon me for my stupidity but what does urban sprawl mean? I moved to Lexington, KY and it's to cold for me here so I'm wanting to move again before next winter and I'm thinking Knoxville. Is the crime very bad in Knoxville, TN? I mean if you stay out of the bad neighborhoods is it pretty safe? I would have moved to Knoxville instead of here except I thought the crime was allot worse? All Southern cities seem to be rampant in crime. This countries government really needs to do something about the crime problem. And the drug problem. Here in Lexington it seems like there are an awful lot of neighborhoods where there is a drug problem. Why is our government not doing much of anything about this? I mean a family can't even move anyplace without have to worry about crime and safety.

May I ask you exactly what you mean by the people being backwards? I just made a move to Lexington, KY in the middle of winter and it was freezing. It was much colder then in So IL (Carbondale) where I unfortunately have had to live most of my life. Carbondale, IL is home of SIU-C and boring with nothing to do. I like Lexington, KY except it is very cold and it is still cold even now. It snowed last night and there's quite a few inches of snow outside today. Knoxville is where I really wanted to go except I didn't one reason being I was afraid the crime would be allot worse. Please tell me more about Knoxville if you can?

Is Greewood a good place to relocate to? - 9/12/2007
Hi, Does anyone know if Greenwood, Mississippi would be a good place to relocate to? Just how bad is the crime? Is the personal crime mainly in certain areas like bad areas of town? thanks

Carbondale, IL

you're right; Carbondale never changes - 9/10/2007
I've been stuck here for 29 years minus 1.5 yrs I lived in another not so exciting city. The person that wrote the comment Carbondale never changes couldn't be more right. It has changed a little but as far as the same types of people; no it hasn't. It still has it's hand full of unfortunate homeless people that hang out right outside a liquor store downtown bumming money off people or sitting on the curbs of the strip which is the main rd downtown. All I can say for this city is boring, boring, boring but yet one good thing about it is I feel safe. Now if you got lots of money to spend there's fun you can find to do here. Or if you like nature there's lots of natural beauty you can experience.

Unbelievable or believable, just another city high - 9/9/2007
I'm finally going to get the chance to relocate but to my super big disappointment I can't seem to pin-point a city that isn't high in crime and with a good city bus system and with a zoo and allot of other fun things to do. I live in boring So IL but and you might hear about someone being shot just every great once in awhile although it's a college town and there is some amount of property theft. I live just outside the city limits and can walk down the street at night with only a little worry but my day to day life is so monotonous I can hardly stand it. I suffer from depression. I've needed a total new environment for the longest time but now I've the chance to move where can I go and not have to be afraid to go there? Any help is appreciated. thanks Here's what I want: city with a pretty good zoo, attractions and fun things to do, not super high in crime, natural and historic beauty and as few big insects as possible. And if it were a Democratic state that would be good to. thanks

Where's a good mid to large city to move to? - 9/9/2007
Hi, I've lived here for about 27 years and I've not been happy for quite a few of them. I've tried to relocate about 6 times and I did make it to a similar city I found I wasn't so thrilled with for 1.5 yrs. I had to come back here 2.5 yrs ago for family reasons but now I'm wanting to relocate again. My son and I lived in Charleston, SC several yrs ago (9 or 10 maybe) but we didn't have enough money and had to return here. It seemed very hot there in May and the Black folks there (are very nice/friendly) said for me to wait till July and see how hot it gets there in Charleston, SC. Now we finally have the chance to relocate again and my son would love Charleston but I'm afraid I won't be able to handle the heat. Anybody know of any great place to live that has lots of activities/attractions, natural beauty, historic, not so bad on the crime and a zoo would be great. So anybody know of a great place like that to live? And not a super big city but mid to large would be OK. Back to Carbondale, IL. You can walk in all but a couple areas in this small city and not have to worry. This one crime scale I was suprized said Carbondale was a little high especially property crime. This is a university city. I've never had the money but if you can afford concerts, plays/musicals, even dance ballots come into town you could have a pretty good time here. They have music and wine festivals if you've good transportation. They have good hiking/fishing/camping/hunting if you're into that. Other then that Carbondale doesn't offer a whole lot. I never had money to enjoy the things it does offer so I've been very bored. As far as restaurants Carbondale doesn't have allot but Marion, IL is down the road about 15 miles and has plenty restaurants. There are some very nice brand new hotels built here just a few miles out side of town down highway 13 that heads to Marion, IL. Carbondale has a state park called Giant City. So IL in general has some beautiful natural areas worth visiting. As far as attractions and things to do in my opinion there is a pretty big lack thereof.
