10/14/2012The entire world is addicted to alcohol and drugs, especially the "western" world. Highway patrol are normal except Swansea, SC is really really bad, but they DO NOT request nor accept cash. I paid my fine with a money order. I was charged a whopping $175 for driving 12 miles above speed limit on a 5 lane highway in the middle of a night with not a single soul around in a rush to an airport with a small child and her mom who felt kind of sick and wanted to get back home fast. That was in Swansea, SC. The town enriches themselves that way and build features such as fountains which don't even have benches to sit on. Regarding SC it seems fine in general, much more freedom than in large cities around USA. Regarding humidity Mid SC is only humid after rain for a couple days. The rest of the days are dry and very pleasant. Guns are good for you, to protect your home from pedophiles that move to SC from other areas.

11/16/2010SC Midlands (area around Columbia, Aiken Orangeburg and Sumter) have a more dry kind of climate, which is slightrly humid at times, but because of Sand Hills its a drier climate with humidity levels of 30% very often or less, especially when its hot and it;s sunny 80% of the time. Great climate. You don;t want it to be too dry like in west coast for your skin to flake. Some humidity is good. SC Midlands humidity is not a sticky type humidity. Cost of living is low, homes are cheap, weather is great, taxes are low. SC is the best place in the USA to move to! Although if too many people will move to SC the taxes will go up, so stay away! Stay in your overrated California!

1/30/2010Lee, the collapsed roofs are on just a couple homes with their owners dead and no relatives to take care of the homes. One such homes was recently demolished. There are no meth labs in North. The one near North has been busted in 2006. If a new meth lab sprouts up it will be busted immediately. It does not pay to do crime or drugs in North. The town has an Air Force air base which is expanding and North is not a boomtown, yet it's not collapsing either.

North, SC is not a dump. They have upgraded the main street, built park for children, built a 5 lane highway to Neeses, more improvements are on the way.
North won't go broke cause they've got an air base. I saw two collapsing roofs in town, owners of which have died and have no kids to take care of their homes. Most decent homes in North are well maintained and there are new people moving in all the time and new shops are opening. The meth lab near North has been busted and the residents will report any new one to the authorities. North is NOT in the meth triangle, it's south of it. It's an advantage living in a small town near a capital city of Columbia, SC. It takes about 40 minutes by car to Columbia and 15-20 to Orangeburg. 45 minutes to Aiken, SC. I've driven around town and I don't see any signs of a single meth lab.
