4/17/2019I have been trapped here for 2 years........
This town is not a place to be if you aren't a college student or a rich retired snob. I worked in a field where I met a lot of people young to old and everyone said they hate this town. It is pretty to visit, it is nice to go to the Commissary to eat. THATS IT. They charge outrageous amounts for their festivals, I was told my dog wasn't allowed to go down to the riverbank during one of their events by a cop and when we were leaving we noticed a few dogs down there......
A 5th grader cut another with a box knife the day after I pulled my kids from their grade F school. If you are catholic, you can go to St. Mary's for about $5,000 per kid per semester and get a decent education. If you aren't catholic, that will cost you an extra $1000 because that is the religious thing to do.
Everyone is rude. The ladies in the utility office will roll their eyes at you. They also posted a passive aggressive note on the front door telling people to blame their old leaky pipes for high water bills. I live in a 3bd trailer that costs me about $400 - $500 a month in utilities so not the cost of living is not low. A trailer this size in north Louisiana would cost about $150 - $200 to keep cool. I will say my landlord is amazing. The Commissary has the best drinks. You will need them if you live here.......
