I really appreciate your inputs about Cape Coral as I am planning to buy a home for my PRE-RETIREMENT, but for now, I will purchase and rent for a while.
I am also looking at Cocoa Beach and Daytona Beach, but I have been told Cape Coral may be a better and safer place? I cannot say as I did not live in any of those places, except that once a year I go to both for a few days.
I wonder if you can share more info.

5/12/2020Thanks a lot for the detailed review, that makes our life much easier, as we read consistent comments about what you described. We are looking to buy our pre-retirement property somewhere in FL...anywhere close to the water (10 to 15 miles radius), so Daytona is out of the equation.

5/12/2020Does that mean it is much worse now? I am planning to buy a small house for retirement soon in that area, however I am in between a few different locations:
Cocoa Beach
Daytona Beach
Jacksonville
Cape Coral (Gulf area)

I live in CT and my son will go to College soon, so, wife and I are planning to sell here and buy in FL.
I was thinking of the following: Jacksonville, Daytona and Cocoa Beach in the East Coast. We also heard that Fort Meyers (specifically, Cape Coral) in the West Coast would be a good choice...
Now, can you tell me a bit more about FL life...I am 55 and wife 48, so we are still active and enjoy HOT WEATHER and Beaches, as we are Brazilians.
