Don't buy in Hot Springs Village -
9/5/2020My father bought a lot in HSV for $15k in 1992 and paid HOA dues on it until he willed it to me in 2015. Altogether we have paid over $10,500 in dues, plus property taxes ever since and I have never set foot inside HSV. I have been trying to sell the property for the past 5 years. Eventually I just wanted to forfeit the property back to the HOA or give it to whoever would take it. I even called most of the real estate agents in that area. They all gave me the same song and dance telling me I should hold on to it because it was in a good area, but none would take it for free. I couldn't even give back my lot in Cielo to the HOA after paying assessments since 1992. They threatened to garnish my wages when I stopped paying HOA monthly assessments.
It appears real estate agents are all in this scam. This is criminal. No one would take it for free. They appear to be in this scam and either limited by the HOA bi-laws, among the realtor association or among themselves.
I finally found a local who knew he could get a free lot and who likes to play golf. This will be his problem now. Ungrateful greedy HSV is deplorable. I never have and never will set foot inside those gates.
Other than election time you can't access the board. HSA HOA has boxed itself and property owners into a real bad loosing situation. There are 30,000 lots that cannot be given away I am told. Don't get suckered in to buying property there or even taking on a lot for free. This a scam that will eventually collapse. You have been warned.
