Life in Douglas -
2/4/2014I have lived here since 1975.I met my wife here, married, raised our family, bought and paid for our home. As I prepare to retire I am saddened that we will probably relocate away from the border. We have been fortunate and blessed here by having been spared the proximity to Mexico's drug gang violence, until recently.
I strongly suspect the move ever closer is a result of the legalization of marijuana in Washington and Colorado and all that implies.
Douglas is nice small town, friendly residents, best weather in the world, and just far enough away from city life to make the trips to Sierra Vista and Tucson entertaining.Medical facilities are poor and unlikely to improve judged by past history. the older we ghet the more it seems we are on the road elswhere.
