Adams County, ND borders Richland near Hettinger metropolitan centre giving a 2020 estimated population standing at 2,769 making it the 15th most populous county located hereabouts. Its county seat is Hettinger though other towns include Reeder & Bucyrus- Hettinger itself corresponds out to Adams's largest city aside from noted country seat. This area had been created out of Stark and BillingsCounties back in 1908 when local citizens petitioned for new administrative boundaries - posthumously named after John Quincy Adams United States President serving region during period James Monroe .
