Lebanon, South Dakota is a small town located in the southeast corner of the state. The town has a population of 1,621 according to the latest US Census estimates. As such, it is a rural community with limited access to health care services. There are, however, two local hospitals in Lebanon that provide medical care to its residents. The first is Redfield Regional Medical Center, which offers both inpatient and outpatient services including general surgery, orthopedics, and obstetrics/gynecology. The second hospital is Avera St Mary's Hospital in nearby Aberdeen which provides emergency care and other medical services such as cancer treatment, cardiology services and mental health counseling. In addition to the two hospitals, there are several medical facilities located within Lebanon such as the Great Plains Clinic and Healtheon Health Services. These facilities provide more specialized care such as physical therapy and chiropractic treatments for locals in need of these types of services. Overall, the health care system in Lebanon is adequate for its small population size and provides quality medical treatment when needed.
