Nikolai, AK is a small rural community located in the eastern side of Alaska with a population of just 104 people. Despite its size, Nikolai has many local businesses to choose from including the Nikolai Trading Post, which offers convenience and grocery items as well as gas and diesel fuel. There are also various restaurants such as The Wood Works Restaurant or The Bunk House which offers home cooked meals and fast food options. For year-round outdoor activities, one can take advantage of fishing, hunting, hiking trails and mountain biking. Other demographic organizations include the Nikolai Tribal Council and the Nikolai Community Center. The town also hosts several annual sporting events such as the “Run for the Hills” cross country skiing race in February and the “Nikolai Rodeo” in August.
